Lighttpd vs. Nginx

Lighttpd and Ngnix are open source HTTP servers. Both of the Lighttpd and Nginx are fast and lightweight. These are asynchronous servers in which the Nginx uses only few megabytes of RAM while Apache consume hundreds of megabytes. Lighttpd has support for IPv6 whereas IPv6 support for Ngnix is under process. Separated error logging feature is supported by Ngnix but not supported by the Lighttpd. Full-blown “Bug Tracking System” is supported by the Lighttpd while Ngnix has a poor man’s bug tracking system.

While serving static files with simple HTTP server Lighttpd gives simple setup but Ngnix is harder in case.
Full-blown “Bug Tracking System” is supported by the Lighttpd while Ngnix has a poor man’s bug tracking system.

In a more fragmented file system Lighttpd performs best compare to Ngnix.

Nginx was designed as a web server as well a proxy server. Nginx lacks the ability for processing the dynamic content natively. while Nginx does not let the additional configuration on a per-directory basis via evaluating and interpreting directives. Requests are faster served by the Nginx.
