Difference Between x86 and x64

Main Difference

x86 and x64 refers to the operating system of the Windows. x86 refers to the 32-bit operating system while x64 refers to the 64-bit operating system. x86 can access only 4GB RAM while x64 can have an access to 8 TB of RAM. Data information handling capacity is more in x64 than x86.

What is x86?

x86 is the 32-bit operating system of the Windows. It refers to the x86 microprocessor family. It is also called IA-32. x86 also refers to the set of instruction that is compiled for running in 32-bit mode of operation. It can access the 4GB of RAM.

What is x64?

x64 is the 64-bit operating system of the Windows. It is also called Intel 64. x64 also refers to the set of instruction that is compiled for running in 64-bit mode of operation. It can Access 8 TB of RAM. Most of the laptops and PCs have x64 as it is the latest. Data information capacity is comparatively high in x64. As x64 much secure so there is no need for prevention of data execution. x64 has twice general purpose registers and SIMD registers as well so its utility is comparatively more. Periodic hardware routines are shifted to software so it is quite flexible.
