What is Tylenol?
Tylenol is the brand name of and is acetaminophen. Tylenol is used for the treatment of pain and fever. Tylenol is mostly prescribed for moderate pain. Tylenol strength is 500mg. Tylenol’s mechanism of action is not still well known but is considered that it mitigates the production of prostaglandins ( which causes inflammation and swelling) in the brain area. Tylenol can be used maximum for ten days. Tylenol does not treat inflammation of mild arthritis, but it relieves pain in this condition. Tylenol is as effective as ibuprofen to cure the osteoarthritis. Tylenol shows side effects like hypersensitivity reactions to acetaminophen, which produces rashes, nausea, headache, skin reactions, and kidney damage. Tylenol use also led to a decrease in the number of WBC. Tylenol overdose leads to liver toxicity, which worsens the patient condition. Tylenol overdose can cause acute liver failure. Tylenol 500mg is given after every 8hrs. Tylenol is also prescribed to children, 10-15mg/kg is given after every 8hrs if the child is less than 12 years old, but the dose should not exceed 2.6g/day. Tylenol metabolism occurs in the liver, so all those drugs which induce enzymes in the liver increase the metabolism of the Tylenol. Tylenol use in pregnancy does not cause malformations in the baby, but if pregnant women use, then babies suffer from childhood asthma.
What is Percocet?
Percocet is the brand name of the combination of two drugs. Percocet contains oxycodone and acetaminophen, oxycodone is opioid analgesic, and acetaminophen is analgesic and antipyretic. Percocet prescription can be refilled according to a recommendation by physician or pharmacist. Percocet is given orally. Percocet dose depends upon the condition of the patient and the patient’s response to Percocet therapy. Percocet, like all analgesics, works best at the appearance of ist sign of the pain. Percocet therapy can be replaced by the long-acting opioids if the patient condition does not improve. Percocet can be prescribed in combinations to treat the pain.
