Difference Between Punjabi and Gujarati

Main Difference

These are not casts but they are titles for people from different states or Regions of India. One state is Punjab of people known as Punjabis, one state is Gujarat of people known as Gujaratis. Each sector has its own language; the Punjab containing most of sikh community speak Punjabi. Those in the South-Centre of India (Calcutta) speak Gujarat (Province of Pradesh), and so forth.

What is Punjabi?

Punjabis are people from Punjab. Most of them follow Sikhism & are Non-vegetarians. They speak Punjabi. Punjab has been a state of very hardworking and industrious people who have always excelled in agricultural production.

What is Gujarati?

A Gujarati is from A State/Region of West India near to India-Pak border Called Gujarat. They speak Gujarati & most of them are Vegetarians. Gujarat today has highest employment rates and the per capita income of the people is among the highest in India.

  2. Gujarat is a state in the west of India while Punjab is a state on the northern side of the country.
  3. While Punjab has traditionally been an agricultural state leading in the production of rice and wheat, Gujarat is a leading producer of Indian cotton and textiles.
  4. Gujarat today has highest employment rates and the per capita income of the people is among the highest in India. Punjab, on the other hand has been a state of very hardworking and industrious people who have always excelled in agricultural production.
  5. Gujarati’s follow Hindu religion and follow a more spiritual path and are mostly vegetarian while Punjabi’s are Hindus as well as Sikhs who wear turban.
  6. Punjabi language is very fluid and suits a peaceful tone of voice while Gujarati language is more expressive and the way the words are spoken, can sometimes show if what the speaker is saying is positive or negative.
  7. The most famous Gujarati personality at present in India is business tycoon Mukesh Ambani (CEO of Reliance Industries) whereas the most famous Punjabi personality in India is Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India at present.
  8. Both Punjabi and gujarati have their own styles of writing different from Hindi.
