The Compound and solutions are basically the combinations of the single elements or other compounds. It is the prime features of the single elements that are not stable most of the time under natural states. As an outcome, the elements come together in order to form various combinations between them or with the other elements for the prime goal of becoming stable. After this procedure, the properties of single elements will be changed and acts according to the mixtures properties. These mixtures can be called compound or solution. The Compounds can be formed only in the situation when a chemical reaction takes place between the elements. This is the main reason that a compound is a chemical substance that is made up by two or more dissimilar chemical elements. You can’t say a Combination of two or more of the same chemical elements a compound as the elements of the compound should be different from each other. The solution on the other side is basically a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances. As a result, a solution is a homogenous mixture, where the composition of the substances is uniform throughout the solution. The solutions can be formed in any of the state of matter consisting of the solid, liquid and gas but most of the solutions that you are able to observe in your daily life are available in the form of liquid.
What is Compound?
For the sake of making a compound, it is necessary that a chemical reaction should be take place and therefore, the compounds contain the chemical substances. These chemical elements must be different in order to be called a compound because the mixture of the similar chemical elements is not known as a compound. The compounds are basically the subsets of the molecules seeing that the elements in a compound are joined with the help of the covalent bonds, ionic bonds, metallic bonds and more. This is the structure of the compound that provides the knowledge of the number of atoms in the compound together with their ratios. The elements present in a compound have a definite proportion that you can know easily by looking at a chemical formula of that compound. The Compounds are present in a stable state, having specific features define their shape, color, properties, and other things. Usually, the elements of a compound have strong link and difficult to be separated.
What is Solution?
From the term of the solution, we usually mean a substance that is dissolved in water or any other liquid. But there are a number of solid solutions are available as well containing the combinations of metals where one metal has been dissolved into the other. The common examples of the solid liquids are the Alloys such as brass. It is a true fact that the Solid solutions don’t have any chemical compounds in them. Along with the solid solutions, the presence of the gaseous solutions has been verified at the same time. There are two types of the components that are present in almost every solution. The first one is known as the Solvent the main objective of which is to dissolve the other component called solutes in order to shape a uniform solution. In most of the cases, the amount of the solvent amount is higher than that of solute. Every particle present in a solution has the size of a molecule or an Ion. This is the main cause that you are not able to observe these particles by the naked eye. A solution may be colorless or has a color in the case when the solvent or the solutes is able to absorb the light able to be seen. In general, the solutions are see-through in nature. There are lots of solvents are available on earth but among all of them, the water has the status of the universal solvent as it has the ability to dissolve lots of items as compared to the other available solvents. The liquid solvents are able to dissolve any substance existing in the form of liquid, gas or solid. If the maximum number of solute is dissolved in a solvent then the solution is known as the saturated one. The power of the interaction between the solvent and solute is usually weak and can be separated easily.
- You will find two or more elements that are chemically bound together in a compound. In contrast, there are few substances that do not chemically bound together in a solution.
- The molecules or compounds present in a solution usually have weak interactions between them. The chemical binding of elements in a compound have strong link.
- For calling a compound, there must be elements present in the defined ratio, but for deciding a solution, the components are not necessarily to be present in definite amounts.
- If you wish to separate the components in a solution then you need to employ the physical methods for this intention. The compound components on the other side can never be separated by the physical means and you may need to use the chemical means for this purpose.
- The solutions typically have two phases called solutes and the solvent that are not the terminologies used for compounds.
